Pre-President Elect Learning and Development
Section outline
-
Welcome to the Pre President Elect Learning & Development Program (PELD). This event will give you an overview of what to expect in and support forward planning for your role as president in 2023-2024.
The President Elect Learning & Development Program.
Following each part of the program there will be activities to complete. These activities have been designed to prepare your club for the upcoming Rotary year. We have found that presidents who complete the activities are well prepared and this leads to a very satisfying year for themselves and club members.
In preparation for the PELD face-to-face workshop 11 March 2023 we would like you to complete the following activities. These activities have been designed to help you start preparing for your year ahead as a president. Even if you have been a president before these activities will help you to identify some key goals for your year.
Activities to complete
The activities suggested are not onerous. The time spent will depend on what you choose to do, however the following activities should not take more that two hours. The benefits are that you will be ready to take full advantage of PELD in March 2023.
- Ask club members to undertake the Club Health Check and analyse the results-the results of your survey will be discussed on 11 March at PELD in a one-to-one session with a member of the District Leadership Team.
- Learn about your role as a president (even if you have been a president before we know you can still learn more!)
Before you begin ensure you know how to navigate MyLearning and you have a MyRotary account.
There are also lots of Rotary acronyms that can be confusing. Download a brief description of some of the acronyms. Keep it handy as a quick reference.
Activity one
We suggest a good way to start planning is to undertake a survey of your club to identify its' strengths and weaknesses. This will help you to develop your strategic plan. This survey has been developed by Rotary International and has been converted into an online survey. You can complete the survey yourself but we suggest a better approach is to send it to club members and gain their insights. Once the survey has been completed send an email to jcollareda@gmail.com and Julie will send you a copy of the results. Print and bring this copy to PELD on 11 March. We also suggest that you use the following resource to analyse the results of your survey.
At the one day workshop for PELD on 11 March, you will spend some time with a member of the leadership team analysing the results of your clubs' health check so make sure you have completed it by the end of February 2023.
Activity Two
- Ask club members to undertake the Club Health Check and analyse the results-the results of your survey will be discussed on 11 March at PELD in a one-to-one session with a member of the District Leadership Team.
